Our mission

To improve the welfare of dogs and cats in Asia, resulting in better lives for both the animal and human communities, to create a society without homeless animals, and to ultimately end animal cruelty.

About

Soi Dog Foundation is Asia's largest animal welfare organisation specialising in the treatment and rehabilitation of street dogs and cats. Based in Phuket, Thailand, Soi Dog aims to reduce the suffering of street dogs and cats primarily by population control. As of October 2017, Soi Dog had sterilised and vaccinated around 180,000 dogs and cats. The result is that Phuket has been declared the only officially rabies-free province in Thailand. Soi Dog also runs a mass sterilisation and vaccination programme in Bangkok, home to 640,000 street dogs, and in Koh Samui, Koh Tao and Koh Phangan. In parallel, Soi Dog was almost single-handedly responsible for ending the Thai dog meat trade, which at its height saw around 500,000 dogs transported from Thailand to Vietnam, destined for the dinner tables of Hanoi. Soi Dog also has programmes in South Korea and Vietnam to end the dog meat trade there.
