About

At playbase, we teach mums, dads, grandparents, carers and playworkers all about the development of young children and the value of play. Our aim is to help our students achieve and grow. We want to help our students grow in knowledge and confidence while they learn about the development of young children. We believe that teaching people about the value of play will improve their lives and the lives of the children they care for.

We run online courses

Our child development training ranges from introductory courses to qualifications that could help you start a childcare career. Our newest course is on Digital Play for young children and has been developed by the University of Edinburgh, in partnership with NHS Lothian, City of Edinburgh Council and Playbase. We can also run short courses in subjects from storytelling to understanding children under three.

We create a safe online space for people to learn and build their knowledge, skills and confidence. Our students can use their new skills and knowledge straightaway at home to help their children learn and play.

Online tutors are there to respond to students' needs and interests, tailoring courses and suggesting routes for progression . Our training support worker is also there for anyone who needs a bit of extra help.

We keep our costs low and offer special rates for people who receive benefits and a free course for asylum seekers.
